Privacy Policy

1. Our Commitment to Privacy

Shield VPN is built on a fundamental principle: your online activity is your business, not ours. We design our systems to collect as little data as technically possible. This privacy policy explains exactly what happens with your information when you use Shield VPN.

2. What We DO NOT Collect

Under our strict no-log policy, Shield VPN never collects, stores, or monitors:

  • Your browsing history or internet activity
  • DNS queries you make while connected to the VPN
  • Your original IP address or assigned VPN IP address
  • Connection timestamps or session duration
  • Bandwidth usage or data transfer amounts
  • Websites you visit, apps you use, or content you access
  • Any personally identifiable information about your online behavior

3. What We Collect (Minimal)

To provide and improve our service, we collect only the absolute minimum:

Account Information

If you create an account: email address (for account recovery and support) and a hashed password. We never see your actual password.

Anonymous Analytics

Aggregated, anonymized crash reports and performance metrics to help us improve the app. This data cannot be tied to any individual user or their activity.

Support Requests

When you contact our support team, we keep a record of the conversation to help resolve your issue. You can request deletion of these records at any time.

4. How We Use Your Information

The minimal information we collect is used solely for:

  • Providing and maintaining the VPN service
  • Responding to your support inquiries
  • Sending essential service updates (e.g., security notices)
  • Improving app performance and stability through anonymized diagnostics
  • Preventing abuse and protecting our network infrastructure

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Ever. The limited data we hold is stored on servers we control and is never provided to advertisers, data brokers, or government agencies.

We may disclose information only if legally compelled by a valid court order from a jurisdiction with proper legal authority. However, due to our no-log policy, there is virtually no user data we could provide even if compelled.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including AES-256 encryption for data at rest, TLS for data in transit, and regular third-party security audits. Our infrastructure follows the principle of least privilege and is continuously monitored for unauthorized access.

7. Children's Privacy

Shield VPN is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

8. International Data Transfers

Any information we process is stored on servers located in privacy-friendly jurisdictions. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for any cross-border data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

10. Independent Audits

Our no-log policy and infrastructure have been independently audited by third-party security firms. Audit reports are available upon request. We believe transparency is the foundation of trust, and we are committed to proving our privacy claims rather than just stating them.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via email (if you have an account) and display a prominent notice within the Shield VPN app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
